I really enjoyed this story. I definitely will be looking forward to future books written by Lenore Wolfe. The story began by telling us about the experiences of a young boy and his family on the trail out west. So many things happened out on the trail that it defined how that young boy developed into a man. The boy was rescued and raised most of his life by loving Indian tribes. There are strong characteristics in this story; revenge, deceit, anticipation, jealousy, strong spiritual beliefs, self resilience, friendship and love. This book shows how greed destroys families and friendships. Yet the story showed how friends and neighbors become more of a family than blood relations. There is a strong evil presence that shadows several of the main characters and it will probably be back in future books, I look forward to it. The relationships between Hawk & Mandy, Kid & Kat and finally Jake & Star Flower are extremely enjoyable. I love that each women in this story was strong enough to survive and prosper without a man yet smart enough to see where their friendships/relationships go even when they both try to prevent a relationship. The suspense and anticipation kept me reading so I read the book in one day. Thanks to the author for sharing her love of writing. Enjoy!!

I'm a voracious reader of many fiction genres. Historical romance is a favorite of mine, and a touch of the paranormal in the heroine's prescience seemed like it would add to the fun. Sadly, I found the lengthy flashbacks and stutteringly interrupting flashes of insight so irritating that I abandoned the book just a quarter of the way through. I can appreciate the author's intent to build a rich background for the characters and plot, but the pace and style were less illuminating than ineffective.
I liked this book. It is a paranormal romantic western. I normally do not read paranormal. What I really liked about this book was that the sex scenes where not real graphic, just enough so that you can imagine what they where doing. I would have gave the book 5 stars but sometimes the paranormal stuff was hard. was hard to figure out. The story mainly was about Mandy and Hawk and their falling in love. It was set in 1871, in Wyoming they where fighting against evil men set out to get Mandy and her ranch. For most part it keep me interested except the few times the paranormal stuff was hard to make sense of. I think anybody who likes westerns, romance, with some paranormal thrown in would like this book.
Honestly, I would have given this book 5 stars if it hadn't been for the language here and there(which I understand it kind of adds to the reality of the people, not everyone had a proper tongue in that day). They weren't swearing every other word and it was durable. Also another reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the sexual content, which also could have been worse... and they were married, I just don't care for reading it. lol And then I won't lie, I'm really not into visions and dreams and stuff. But it added to the story and made things interesting instead of boring me to death.

Overall though, this is probably a book I will read a second time later in the future! The story was interesting and kept me guessing what would happen next. I read most of it in one sitting because I was dying to know what happened. Not EVERY question is answered in this book, but it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and I think that more will be answered in the next book, which I will probably look for. I just finished the book earlier today and have already recommended it to two other friends.

Lenore Wolfe is a very talented writer and even in the first few pages, I was quite impressed with how she described details without being boring. The characters were very well developed and it was like knowing them personally by the end of the book. I will probably look for more books by this author.

AUTHOR First, I'm not a Western fiction type of gal but the dark cover with the hawk feather fooled me and so I read. I found author Lenore Wolfe to be an action type of gal with knowledge of the West and Native Americans. BUT... Lenore you had way ay ay too many people related to too many people and too many incidences. I got lost.

SETTING 19th century Wyoming

CENTRAL CHARACTERS MANDY has the gift of being able to communicate with Native American Spirits. But she will take chances necessary to get what she needs. HAWK is considered a gunslinger but stands for what is right.

SYNOPSIS We have the woman doing whatever it takes to prevent her ranch from being stolen from under her. We have the bad guy who wants to steal the ranch and marry the woman that owns it. We have the man that is guided into the life of the woman to help her from having the ranch stolen from under her.

SEXUAL EXPLICITNESS some caressing of breasts, bucking of thighs and pushing through .... usual boring stuff.

WHAT I LIKED Give me a minute. I'll try to think of something that was not monotonous or mundane.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE Who is related to whom and to what tribe and to who's father and at what age did things happen when they happened that made the relationships come together, etc???? AND Alright already, enough with "fingers lifting up chins to stare into eyes" and "eyes that were narrowed".

I give this book (3) stars because nothing new in a Western. Romance was boring sex between a married couple that went on and on and on and nothing new. Many but not all who, what, when, where and how were not clear.
